SOGGY SAND NOT STOPPING ROCK GROYNE
Despite today’s dreary weather, construction entered a new stage for the rock groyne at The Entrance Beach.
It’s hoped the structure will help control beach erosion near the surf club, whilst limiting the amount of silt and sand which can block the channel.
“There were a lot of options that only looked at the channel but they didn’t do very much for the beach itself so this is a nice balance between the two.”
The $1.9-million project will see approximately 6,000 tonnes of rocks shifted into place.
It’s expected to be finished by the end of the year.
