FETAL ALCOHOL SPECTRUM DISORDER IN THE SPOTLIGHT
A public forum is underway in Newcastle tonight, in an effort to help curb cases of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
Nearly 200 community members and stakeholders are meeting to discuss prevention strategies.
“We know that FASD is the most common form of non genetic birth defects, we’ve all heard about autism spectrum disorder, yet FASD is much higher than that,” Chairman of the Newcastle Local Drug Action Team, Tony Brown says.
It’s part of a three-year initiative, funded by the federal government.
