ADELAIDE ARCHBISHOP DECLARED FIT TO STAND TRIAL
The Catholic Archbishop of Adelaide, Philip Wilson, has been declared fit to stand trial on a charge of concealing child sex abuse.
Newcastle Local Court today heard that the 67-year-old underwent a neuropsychological assessment which found “some degree of cognitive impairment”, but he was overall fit to stand trial.
Wilson is accused of failing to report the sexual assault of a boy in the Hunter by paedophile priest James Fletcher in the 1970s.
The trial is due to begin at 2pm to give Wilson time to travel from Adelaide to Newcastle.
