ADAMSTOWN OFF TO STRONG START IN WPL

Warners Bay has kicked off the new Women’s Premier League season, with a massive win over South Wallsend.

New Lambton made its debut in a draw with Wallsend, while Adamstown edged out Thornton.

Both sides were sporting new line ups for 2018, but it was Thornton that had the first genuine chance of the game.

At the other end, a miss-kick by keeper Grace Harvey gifted Rosebud’s Annika D’Amico the opening goal.

D’Amico had another chance, but Harvey made up for her mistake.

But when the striker was brought down by Lucinda Maddison, Adamstown had a penalty, which was slotted away by Elodie Dagg.

Skipper Sophie Milton then missed a golden opportunity to get the visitors back in it.
