A mother and her 9-month-old baby were lucky to escape with only minor injuries, when their car landed on its roof, after being hit at Fern Bay near Newcastle this afternoon.
The accident happened at around 1pm, closing Nelson Bay Road in both directions.
Mum and bub were taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition… the father suffered leg lacerations, but was treated at the scene.
Two people in the other car were also assessed by paramedics.
