A 36-year-old man has drowned at Brunswick Heads on the NSW Far North Coast.
It’s understood the man was swimming with a group around 11 o’clock before he was caught in a rip, just south of the Surf Club.
It was his friend who alerted two nearby surfers, managing to pull the unconscious swimmer onto their boards before commencing C-P-R.
Despite the best effforts of emergency services, the man could not be revived.
It’s the first fatality on Far North Coast beaches this season.
