STATE GOVERNMENT PULLS FUNDING FOR NEWCASTLE CRUISE TERMINAL
State government funding for the Newcastle cruise terminal has been withdrawn with Infrastructure NSW today confirming the decision.
$12.7 million had originally been slated for the project at Carrington, however negotiations between the Port of Newcastle and the State government, over the final design of the terminal, stalled.
Currently ships carrying up to 3,900 passengers can dock in Newcastle.
A spokesperson for the Port of Newcastle said, the port will continue to support the Hunter’s tourism sector by berthing cruise ships.
