WALLSEND PURSUIT ENDS IN TWO ARRESTS
Two people have been arrested after a dramatic police pursuit in the Newcastle suburb of Wallsend on Thursday.
Vision posted on social media shows the final stages of the chase, in which a Subaru Outback can be seen driving the wrong way down Newcastle Road.
Motorists were forced to swerve to avoid the oncoming vehicle, which later crashed into a tree on nearby Cowper Street.
The driver, a woman from Wallsend, alongside her teenage passenger were arrested, with a shortened firearm allegedly found in the car.
The 28-year-old woman was taken to hospital, where she remains under police guard.
Her 18-year-old passenger was charged with six offences including possessing a shortened firearm.
