TWO CHARGED IN NEWCASTLE FRAUD STING
A number of allegedly stolen credit cards and driver’s licences have been uncovered in a fraud sting in Newcastle.
Officers from Newcastle City Police District searched a house on Watkins Street in Mereweather yesterday morning, where they found a large quantity of allegedly stolen goods in the possession of a young woman.
Among the loot was a number of credit cards, driver’s licences, jewellery, and medication.
The 27-year-old was arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station.
Following further investigations, police then swooped on a home on Callen Street, Stockton and arrested a 24-year-old man.
The man was arrested and charged with six counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception, and one count each of larceny and destroy/damage property.
The woman was charged with two counts of theft.
Both will front court in the coming weeks.
