CENTRAL COAST GETS NEW IMAGING TECHNOLOGY
Detecting unwanted cancers and medical conditions has become a whole lot easier, with a new combined PET and CT scanner arriving on the Central Coast.
The new technology produces a clearer image which enables more accurate diagnosis.
“It uses digital detectors to detect the radio activity that comes from the patient and leads to a lower radiation dose to the patient. A faster scan and has a bigger board, so patients who have claustrophobia are more able to have a scan.” – DR ANDREW BALDEY – PRP IMAGING RADIOLOGIST
The new scanner is one of just a handful in the country.
