NEW PONDS SECURE WETLAND HABITAT FOR ENDANGERED FROGS

Six artificial ponds, designed to withstand drought and fire, have been installed at Kooragang Island, to protect the endangered green and golden bell frog population.

They replace ponds destroyed in early 2019, when a series of bushfires ripped through.

“The previous ones were plastic and these ones are made out of steel with a rust resistant coating put on them.”

The new habitat can hold almost 50,000 litres of water.
