WOMAN BEHIND BARS AFTER ALLEGEDLY STABBING HER PARTNER
A woman has been charged with stabbing her partner, who’s now in a critical condition, in the state’s north.
Around 7:30pm on Monday, emergency services were called to a unit on Bay Street at Tweed Heads, after reports of a physical altercation.
Police and paramedics found a 38-year-old man, who’d been stabbed in the shoulder, collapsed on the street outside the apartment block.
A 34-year-old woman was also found nearby with a cut lip.
The man was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital for surgery.
Paramedics were forced to perform CPR during the journey there, when the man’s heart stopped due to blood loss.
They revived him and he remains in hospital in a critical, but stable condition.
The woman was treated at Tweed Heads Hospital before being arrested.
Police will allege the couple had an argument before the man punched the woman in the face.
The woman then allegedly stabbed the man.
She was charged with wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm (DV) and was refused bail to appear in Tweed Heads Local Court today.
