MANHUNT FOLLOWING MAITLAND HOME INVASION, RESIDENT INJURED
Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was injured in a home invasion near Maitland.
About 7.30pm yesterday, a man and woman were inside a house on O’Hearn Street, Tenambit, when a man wearing a balaclava forced entry through the rear door.
The intruder demanded money before physically assaulting a 48-year-old man on numerous occasions.
The woman called police and the man fled the house, she was uninjured.
The 48-year-old man was taken to Maitland Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The unknown man is described as being aged in his early 20s, about 160cm tall, of medium build with brown eyes.
He was last seen wearing a black balaclava, dark coloured clothing and black shoes.
