POLICE APPEAL FOR THE PUBLIC’S HELP FOLLOWING TWO SUSPICIOUS FIRES

Police are appealing for the public’s help following suspicious fires in Tamworth and Gunnedah overnight.

Emergency services were called to a business on Mathuis Road at Gunnedah just after 9pm, where they found the building well alight.

The site was partially destroyed in the blaze but, thankfully, it was unoccupied at the time.

Police have established a crime scene.

Meanwhile, crews were later called to Tingira Street in Tamworth at around 12.45 this morning, following reports a house was on fire.

Firefighters worked to quickly extinguish the blaze.

No one was home at the time.

Officers there have also established a crime scene and wish to speak with two men who were spotted running from the scene and may be able to assist with their inquiries.

One man is described as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance, around 175cm tall and was wearing blue jeans and a black top. The second man is reported to have been wearing tracksuit pants.

Anyone with information on either incident is urged to contact Police.
