RESEARCH SHOWS HUNTER ECONOMY IN GOOD SHAPE

A new study has found unemployment in the Hunter remains low, while the number of people able to work is now higher than the state average for the first time.
Coal mining continues to drive our economy, but it’s the knowledge-based professions which are experiencing the greatest growth.
Researchers say it shows the value of staying in school.
We think in the Hunter there’s been a lag in the message getting across to the community because we still have an issue with early school leavers.
