North Coast MP, Steve Cansdell, has been promoted to the position of Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Police, Mike Gallacher.
The Member for Clarence says he hopes his appointment will strengthen the voice of regional New South Wales on law and order issues.
Mr Cansdell said too many police are on long-term leave and many are working in unsafe conditions.
He says he wants to improve morale among police in regional areas.
