HUNTER SES GETS MUCH NEEDED UPGRADE

The SES will soon be able to keep on top of requests for help more easily, thanks to a technology overhaul.
The service says following the April storms, it realised it needed to upgrade its system.
“We had some great lessons learned as a result of the April storm and we’re now putting those into play as we upscale and modernise the emergency operations centre.”
The Tighes Hill centre is being decked out with new computers, televisions, iPads and iPhones at a cost of $10,000.
They’ll enable volunteers to get job requests on the road, instead of having to return to the office.
It’s hoped the new equipment will reduce overall response times.
