MAYOR AND DEPUTY MAYOR ELECTIONS TONIGHT

The tide has turned in the race for Deputy Mayor ahead of tonight’s Tamworth Regional Council elections.
Councillor Jim Maxwell is standing by his announcement to run, while Russell Webb has chosen to step aside.
Maxwell could face new competition from Councillor Mark Rodda, who says the community has pushed him to step up, and a late entry in Councillor Phil Betts.
Meanwhile, it’s looking like a one-horse-race for Mayor, with Councillor Col Murray tipped to return to the top job.
The meeting gets underway at 6.30 and nominations remain open for both roles until then.
