Six months after running aground off Mauritius, an Australian-skippered yacht has made a remarkable comeback in the Volvo Ocean Race.
With Lake Macquarie’s Chris Nicholson at the helm, Team Vestas Wind has finished second on leg eight, from Lisbon in Portugal to Lorient in western France.
Nicholson says he was simply hoping for an incident-free run in his crew’s return to the event, so a podium finish exceeded all expectations.
