Nobbys and Stockton beaches will remain closed for the rest of the day after a shark sighting in the mouth of Newcastle Harbour.
The shark was spotted this morning by a group of commerical divers doing work in the Harbour for the Port of Newcastle.
Lifeguards promptly closed the beaches then carried out searches on jet skis.
All other beaches remain open.
