KOKODA CHALLENGE

A bushfire has forced the gruelling Kokoda Challenge on the Gold Coast to be moved, with the event instead getting started from the Nerang Velodrome.

The course has also been cut in two with teams doubling back once they reach half way.

Groups of four have trained for months to cover the ninety-six kilometre path.

The challenge honours the diggers on the Kokoda Trail and also raises money for local youth charities.

The winners are expected to cross the finish line around 7-30.

Teams are allowed up to thirty-nine hours to finish the race.
