MAN CHARGED OVER TEEN DEATHS

Police have charged a 37-year-old man over the deaths of two teenage hitchhikers near Wauchope on New Year’s Day.

19-year-old Kane Bramble from Port Macquarie and 16-year-old Clint Ritchie from Wauchope died after they were hit by a four-wheel drive as they walked along the Oxley Highway.

The Byabarra man has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, two counts of negligent driving occasioning death and low-range drink driving.

He’s due to appear in Wauchope Local Court on April 12.
