In V8 Supercars, and the chaos at Symmons Plains in Tasmania worked to Newcastle driver Aaren Russell’s advantage – he recorded a career-best placing of 17th.
Russell was towards the back of the field, but managed to narrowly avoid the carnage throughout the race, to finish nine places ahead of where he started.
