WOMAN SET TO SPEND FOURTH NIGHT CHAINED TO TREE

A Gold Coast woman is preparing to spend a fourth night chained to a tree, set to be cut down by council.
Lynne Hargreaves and a small group of supporters again braved the cold last night, in a bid to save two camphor laurel trees from the axe, under a Currumbin boardwalk project.
The campaign continues to attract supporters, with 600 signatures now on a petition to be handed to council.
“They want to put a set of stairs down here for a walkway we’re not against the walkway the walkway goes ahead there’s a ramp over there for a wheelchair and people can access that and the bike way there’s no need for these trees to go”
It’s still not known when work will proceed.
