Driver rolls car into Tweed river at Tumbulgum

A driver is in hospital tonight after his car rolled into a bank on the Tweed river yesterday afternoon at Tumbulgum.

New South Wales Ambulance responded after 3 p-m yesterday, following reports a person was trapped on Tweed Valley Way.

The Tweed District rescue Squad carefully extricated the patient, while NSW Ambulance treated him for head injuries.

He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Tweed-Byron Police are continuing enquiries into the incident.
