Locals are being urged to join the war against the toad, in Casino’s first cane toad muster.
The pests aren’t usually common in the Casino/Kyogle areas, but recent wet weather has seen the population explode.
The Northern Landcare Support Service want to make sure numbers are kept under control for safety and environmental reasons.
“They can squirt poison at people as a defence mechanism they are also a risk to our pets, our dogs, our cats and our wildlife of course.”
The muster will kick off with an education session on how to safely and humanely catch a toad.
It starts at six o’clock tonight at Casino Golf Club.
