TRIO RESCUED FROM ROUGH SEAS, BALLINA

Three people are lucky to be alive after their boat capsized in rough conditions on Ballina’s notorious bar.
Marine rescuers were called out this morning, and safely managed to pluck the trio out of the dangerous seas.
It’s believed the skipper was experienced and knew the bar well.
“He was riding on the back of a wave and another one pulled up behind him and got the better of him, knocked him down into the first one and rolled him.”
Three boats have now tipped over on the bar in the last 12 months, claiming one life.
Marine Rescue is urging the public to exercise caution.
“If you have any doubts about it and haven’t had any experience on it, don’t go!”
The trio was taken to hospital for observation.
