Construction has finally begun for Lismore’s first cancer accommodation facility.
Federal MP Janelle Saffin was given the honour of getting the demolition ball rolling, knocking out the first brick where the Our House centre will be built.
“There’ll be a building here, 20 room style motel accommodation. It will cater to family, to kids of people who need to be in hospital and particularly across the road from the intergratted cancer care centre.”
Other than Lismore, the closest cancer treatment centres are located in Newcastle and Brisbane.
