LIFEGUARDS EXTEND PATROL SEASON AT BYRON BAY

Byron Bay’s main beach will be safer for an extra two months of the year with extra funding allowing the Australian Lifeguard Service to extend its patrol season.

The flags will now be up seven days a week from now until the end of May with the help of the volunteer surf life savers.

“Key message we’re trying to get across is to always swim between the flags, now the flags are up there is a safe zone to swim in, its’ up to the people coming to the beach to make the right decision ”

Last year 98 people were rescued at Main Beach – another busy season is expected.
