LISMORE’S CBD WATERPROOFED

After 18 months of planning and twelve weeks of construction, Lismore’s flood levee is ready to fight another rainy day.
Today, Member for Lismore, Thomas George and Mayor Jenny Dowell were among the first to inspect the new wall, which has been built to withstand a flood of up to almost 11 meters.
“We spent 2.8 million dollars doing it, it’s taken most of that time getting approvals and money through the system.”
The structure was damaged during flooding in 2009 and its repairs paid for through both federal, state and disaster relief funding.
