$1 MILLION OF GROCERIES DESTROYED IN WOOLWORTHS FIRE IN BALLINA

Around $1 million dollars worth of groceries have been destroyed after a fire broke out at the Woolworths Supermarket on River Street Ballina this morning.
25 firefighters fought the blaze, which started in the back office just after 5am.
While the fire itself was quickly contained, smoke clogged the building and caused most of the damage.
“We’re still investigating as the cause of the fire, there were a number of break ins in this area last night but we don’t think that they are connected to the fire.”
Woolworths says the store will be closed until further notice.
Staff and surviving stock have been redirected to Woolworths at Ballina Fair
