COASTAL PLAN FOR COFFS HARBOUR

Coffs Harbour council wants feedback on a draft plan which will guide future coastal development in the event of sea level rise.
The management options under discussion include measures such as building seawalls, the raising of floor levels and deeper foundations for buildings.
Also under consideration is the retreat option, where the ocean would be allowed to move further inland.
The state government predicts a sea level rise of 40cm by the year 2050, and 90cm by the year 2100.
A series of public meetings will be held later this month.
