BALLINA ADOPTS MARINA MASTERPLAN

Ballina Council has adopted a masterplan for a multi-million-dollar marina in West Ballina.
The move means council can now rally state and federal governments for funding to redevelop the site on crown-land.
“Fundamentally the aim’s about having a better marina and enhanced marine infrastructure so there’s more opportunities for boat berths but also something the community said was lots of public open space and something like a marine esplanade”
Council estimate it will cost upwards of $10-million to redevelop the West Ballina Trawler Harbour.
Plans include more than 100 boat berths, residential apartments, commercial shops and public green space.
