It’s the second time in as many weeks protestors have taken their message to his doorstep.

I was at this protest in Ballina and at Thomas George’s office protesting in the morning. Rural people are not going to be guinea pigs for city politicians who really don’t understand the land. Thomas George and Don Page have betrayed North Coast farmers and residents by turning their backs on our land, water and air and agreeing with open slather for foreign mining companies. The evidence of irreparable damage is evident in Queensland where bore levels have dropped by up to 10 metres. Farmers are being forced off their depreciated land and our food-growing farms will not be able to sustain Australians at the rate that is required as the population increases. Our nation cannot survive without a healthy Great Artesian Basin. To recharge the Basin requires more than 50 billion litres per year but the mining companies are taking more than 80 billion litres per year. BHP Billiton has already stated that there is enough conventional LPG gas to last us almost 200 years so the lie the Government is spouting that we “need” this gas is preposterous.
