After six months in the pipeline, the Regional Universities Network (RUN) today launched its new policy statement, via video link.
It outlines a number of ways an incoming Federal Government can support the network.
“We’re calling on the Government to help universities out reach to high schools, we’re calling on the Government to allow us to provide accommodation services in regional towns to allow our students to charge extra HECS.”
The network is made up of six universities, including Lismore’s Southern Cross Uni.
Its Vice Chancellor, Professor Peter Lee, says regional campuses play a key role in driving Australia’s development.
“Regional universities educated over 100,000 university students, have the lions share of indigenous students and have large economic and social impacts.”
