The Newcastle Maritime Centre has an impressive new exhibit, a three-metre long model of a merchant ship, lost during World War II.
But for relatives of the crew of the SS Iron Knight, it’s not just a display, but a memorial to those killed when the vessel was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine.
