TRANSGRID PULLS PLUG ON POWERLINE

TransGrid has today announced it’s scrapped plans to build a high-voltage transmission line – worth a quarter of a billion dollars – from Tenterfield to Lismore.

The Tenterfield community has long opposed the line – expressing concerns about the impact of its construction on forests and farmland.

TransGrid originally claimed the transmission line was essential to securely supplying electricity to the North Coast.

Today, they made assurances the cancellation of the project will have no impact on electricity supply.
