WYONG COUNCIL REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT FOR EDUCATION PRECINCT

Wyong Council has re-affirmed its commitment to creating an education precinct in Warnervale.
Last night it adopted a resolution to push ahead with plans, that could result in a regional university being built.
The resolution also invites the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Newcastle to address councillors on how the institution plans on meeting the growing needs of the Wyong area.
Last week the idea of a stand-alone Central Coast University failed to attract enough support at a joint meeting between Wyong and Gosford Councils.
Meanwhile, Wyong Council has confirmed it will fix Ourimbah’s flood-prone underpass at Burns Road.
The low-lying underpass was the subject of two emergency flood rescues during the region’s recent storms, with cars becoming trapped in rising waters.
Council will begin the safety work as soon as possible.
