A surfer is in a critical condition, after being struck by lightning near Byron Bay this morning.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, was brought to shore at Suffolk Park by his friends at around 10am.
He was treated by paramedics before being transferred to Tweeds Head Hospital.
A storm warning had been issued for the North Coast by the Bureau of Meteorology this morning, with Byron Bay receiving 63mm of rain from 9am.
