PAIR CHARGED AFTER CRIME SPREE ON THE FAR NORTH COAST
A man and woman from the Far North Coast have been charged over two break-ins in the area last month.
On 12 December, three men allegedly broke into a home on Centre Street at Casino, armed with a syringe and an axe. The men allegedly assaulted a 42-year-old resident, and stole cash and a gold watch before leaving.
Then sometime between 30 and 31 December, a shed at a property on Summerland Way, Kyogle, was allegedly broken into. A quad bike, a trailer, three firearms, and ammunition were stolen.
The crime spree came to an end when police stopped and searched a Toyota Landcruiser on Summerland Way at Kyogle on Thursday the 31st December, where they found the quad bike, trailer and two firearms.
A 40-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Casino Police Station where she was charged.
Then on Friday 1 January, Highway Patrol police apprehended a 41-year-old man in connection with the two break-ins who was sighted travelling along Summerland Way. He was taken to Casino Police Station and charged with a range of offences including break, enter and steal, and possession of an unauthorised firearm.
The woman will appear before Casino Local Court on Wednesday 27 January, while the man was refused bail and appeared before Lismore Local Court on Saturday 2 January.
Investigations are continuing.
