Almost half a million passengers passed through the Ballina Byron Gateway Airport this year, making it the busiest on record.
The 7 per cent increase in passenger numbers comes as the airport prepares for a $5.4 million upgrade to its terminal precinct.
The last month has also seen additional flights to Melbourne, Sydney and Newcastle – adding an extra 12,500 seats during the summer holidays
