SPEEDS OVER 160KPH ALLEGEDLY REACHED IN TWEED HEADS PURSUIT
It’s alleged a Tweed Heads man reached speeds in excess of 160km/h during a police pursuit yesterday.
At around 11am, police claim to have witnessed a Holden Commodore allegedly travelling above the speed limit on the Pacific Highway at Cudgera Creek, west of Pottsville.
A pursuit was initiated when the driver of the Holden allegedly failed to stop, but safety concerns led police to terminate the pursuit.
A short time later, the vehicle was found abandoned on the Clothiers Creek exit ramp on the M1 Motorway.
Further inquiries led police to stop a Suzuki sedan in Murwillumbah with three men inside, about 20 minutes later.
A 32-year-old man was charged with a range of offences including Skye’s Law, and breach of bail.
The driver of the Suzuki was also issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for driving while disqualified, and the passenger was arrested for possessing a prohibited drug.
