MAN SHOT AND KILLED IN ALLEGED POLICE CONFRONTATION

A man has died on the far north coast after a confrontation with police.
Police responded to reports of a disturbance on Turf Street in Grafton, just before 4 pm yesterday.
A man armed with a knife allegedly confronted police when they arrived.
Police tasered the man, before he was shot.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics, before being taken to hospital, where he died.
A critical incident team will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
