HITCH-HIKER ALLEGEDLY STEALS DRIVERS VEHICLE

A man’s been assaulted and had his vehicle stolen after picking up a hitch-hiker in Northern New South Wales.
A 27-year-old man picked up the hitch-hiker on Skyline Road at Goonellabah just before 2pm last Friday.
The driver stopped near a shopping complex on Rous Road, when the passenger allegedly punched the driver in the face and pushed him out of the car, before driving off.
Police arrested a 26-year-old man aruond 9am yesterday.
He was charged with assault with intent to take a motor vehicle and will appear in court next month.
Police also attended the man’s home and seized a motor vehicle.
