POLICEWOMAN ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTED DURING ARREST
A police officer has allegedly been assaulted during an arrest on the far north of New South Wales on Saturday.
Police say two men became involved in a brawl outside a licensed premises on Wharf Street in Tweed Heads, and when police were called, one of the men assaulted an attending female officer.
The pair were arrested before a third man was also arrested when he allegedly assaulted one of the arrested men.
It’s also alleged the first two men assaulted other patrons and damaged a vehicle earlier that evening at another licensed premises on Minjungbal Drive.
A 51-year-old man has been charged with affray and common assault, while a 24-year-old man was charged with two counts of affray.
A 23-year-old man was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty, two counts of affray and malicious damage.
