FASD PREVENTION PROGRAM UNDERWAY IN NEWCASTLE
A multi-million-dollar project to prevent Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is set to be rolled out in Newcastle.
It’s one of two locations, including Alice Springs, to become the focus of a support program called Make F-A-S-D History.
Each year in Australia, around two per cent of babies have a birth defect caused by alcohol consumption during pregnancy.
The project, led by Telethon Kids Institute, has secured $2.7-million in federal funding over three years to help curb cases.
