UNSEASONAL SPIKE IN KOALA DEATHS

An early start to the breeding season is being blamed for a recent spike in koala deaths.
Conservation group ‘Friends of the Koala’, say they’ve treated more than 10 of the mammals in the past 48 hours alone, of which only two could be saved.
Residents are being urged to slow down when driving and look out for the furry creatures.
“If you learn about koala’s and how you can identify one that’s unhealthy and really needs to come into care, your looking at a much better chance if you ring us. The sooner we get on into care, the better chance we’ve got.”
If you do spot an injured koala, you can call the 24-hour hotline on (02) 6622 1233.
