BAIL FOR CELEBRITY PSYCHOLOGIST CHARGED WITH HISTORIC SEX ABUSE

A high profile psychologist arrested on historical sex abuse charges has been released on bail.

Dr Robert Montgomery appeared in Byron Bay Local Court this afternoon after being extradited from the Gold Coast.

He facing 11 sexual abuse charges dating back to the 1960’s when he was a scout leader in Sydney.

Magistrate Dunleavy said that although the charges are “grave”, he was taking into account their historical nature and Dr Montgomery’s poor health.

Strict conditions have been attached to the bail relating to his contact with minors.

His lawyer told NBN news the charges will be vigorously defended.
