A man has been charged with kidnapping and affray as investigations continue into a fatal fight in the Newcastle suburb of Hamilton.
Local residents called police in the early hours of Friday morning, concerned about men fighting in Donald Street.
Officers later found a 51-year-old dead and a 23-year-old unconscious in a unit on Cody Street.
A 25-year-old man was charged on Sunday with aggravated take/detain person in company with the intention to obtain advantage, affray and reckless grievous bodily harm.
The Hamilton South man was refused bail and is due to front Newcastle Local Court today.
