A Casino woman has been charged, after allegedly ringing Triple 000 on 13 occasions, despite not once needing the assistance of emergency services.
It’s alleged in one incident the 48-year-old told operators that people were being detained at knifepoint, while on a separate occasion she said people were being stabbed.
Following an investigation, she was arrested at a home on Stapleton Avenue on Monday morning.
She’s due back in Casino Local Court next month.
It’s triggered a reminder from first responders, about the importance of only calling Triple 000 in the case of an emergency.
“These calls placed the lives of emergency responders at risk while they drove at high speeds to attend the job, and tied up valuable resources that could have been used to serve those in the community who genuinely required help”, said a post on Facebook by Richmond Police District.
